About the Opportunity
This is an open position with Jersey Central Power & Light, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.
The successful candidate can anticipate a salary within the following range pending education, experience, and equity.
The successful candidate will be hired within this range $139,800 - $167,760, based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity. Compensation may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, and overall candidate profile.
Standardized Summary of Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline and 4 years of related work experience is required; OR Associate's degree in related discipline and 8 years of related work experience is required; OR High School Diploma (or GED) and 10 years of related work experience is required. Related work experience is knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
- Must have demonstrated ability to lead initiatives and change implementation.
- Awareness of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC).
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret work requests, engineering drawings, schematics, equipment instruction manuals and procedures to develop accurate work plans.
- Working knowledge of the purpose, function, and operating characteristics of equipment and systems, (i.e. substation, overhead lines, underground lines), as well as working knowledge of construction methods, maintenance practices, service practices, standards and procedures.
- Skill in the development, collection, organization, and analysis of information from a variety of sources to compile and monitor reports (i.e., POFU, ESSS, WMI, etc.), providing information on backlog and productivity.
- Must possess superior analytical skills and be able to effectively work with all levels of employees, as well as with customers, contractors and the general public, in a professional and courteous manner.
- Knowledge of residential, commercial and utility electrical distribution and control systems.
- Full proficiency with PC software applications including Microsoft Office, (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) and Outlook, along with knowledge of SAP, geographical information system (GIS), customer request work scheduling (CREWS), FEWS, FWRD, FLEX, OMA, OMS, computer aided drafting (CAD/AutoCAD) and Energy Delivery Outage Application.
- Ability to understand and apply knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Understand the Company’s Accident Prevention Handbook and apply this to safety in the workplace.
- Must have demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment, to manage, organize and prioritize work and ultimately meet strict deadlines.
- Must have the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve problems on projects and/or processes.
- Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task with competing priorities, provide both internal and external quality customer service, and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess leadership qualities that allow one to provide effective guidance to others, coach others in effective decision-making and facilitate meetings.
Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required, possessing a valid driver’s license.
