Summary
We are seeking a Cost Accountant to support project cost tracking, job costing, billing, and financial reporting. This position monitors project expenditures, purchase orders, inventory, projections, and provides timely financial insights to project managers and leadership. This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience and grow in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist with job cost tracking, including labor, materials, subcontractor costs, equipment usage, and change orders
2. Work closely with Warehouse Manager and Project Team members to obtain accurate data in a timely manner
3. Upload, track, manage and reconcile expenses in software
4. Prepare timely project cost reports
5. Identify and flag discrepancies or cost overruns
6. Reconcile purchase orders, invoices, and delivery tickets
7. Assist with inventory and materials cost tracking
8. Assist with change orders
9. Prepare client billings
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
2. 0–2 years of accounting experience; construction or project‑based accounting exposure is a plus.
3. Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Excel, and navigating software applications
4. Strong attention to detail and solid organization skills
5. Willingness to learn construction‑specific cost structures.
6. Ability to communicate clearly with project teams, vendors, and management.
Work Environment
1. Primarily in our Kalihi office
2. Occasional site visits to construction projects
3. Works closely with project managers, field teams, procurement, and finance.
