The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the front desk during overnight hours while ensuring exceptional guest service, maintaining hotel security, and completing daily financial and accounting procedures. This role combines guest service responsibilities with accounting and administrative tasks to prepare the hotel for the next business day.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Services
- Welcome and assist guests with check-in and check-out during overnight hours.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, questions, and concerns.
- Process reservations, cancellations, and room changes.
- Answer incoming phone calls and provide information about the hotel and local area.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by resolving issues efficiently.
Night Audit & Accounting
- Perform the nightly audit of hotel financial transactions.
- Balance cash drawers, credit card transactions, and daily revenue reports.
- Verify room rates, charges, and payments for accuracy.
- Generate and distribute daily financial and occupancy reports.
- Close out the day's business and prepare the property management system for the next business day.
- Report discrepancies or unusual transactions to management.
Security & Operations
- Monitor hotel security throughout the overnight shift.
- Conduct periodic property inspections to ensure guest safety and security.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies following hotel procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk area.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous hotel front desk, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Basic accounting or bookkeeping experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Must be dependable and able to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work overnight (typically 11:00 PM–7:00 AM).
