Newaygo County Mental Health is seeking a compassionate and motivated individual to join our Youth Services Team as a Parent Support Partner.
This unique role is designed for a parent or primary caregiver who has lived experience raising a child with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges. Candidates must have a child who is currently receiving or has previously received services.
The Parent Support Partner plays a vital role in empowering families to build confidence, strengthen parenting skills, and move toward greater independence. This position provides peer-to-peer support, guidance, and mentorship to families navigating mental health services.
The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, respect, and responsiveness to diverse values, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences.
- Provide peer support, mentorship, and encouragement to parents and caregivers
- Empower families through skill-building and education
- Assist families in accessing community resources and navigating service systems
- Partner with service providers to support coordinated care
- Participate in service planning, implementation, and transition processes as outlined in the Person-Centered Plan
- Promote family voice, choice, and advocacy in all aspects of care
- Foster positive, respectful partnerships between families and professionals
- Must be a parent or primary caregiver with lived experience supporting a child with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong computer and typing skills
- Valid Michigan driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to share personal experiences in a professional and supportive manner
- Successful completion of an extensive background check and drug screening
- Salary range: $40,792 – $50,000, based on experience
