Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Civil Engineer to join the team in Buffalo, New York.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, permitting, and technical management of civil/site development projects including commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, and municipal developments throughout Western New York.
This position requires a strong understanding of site design, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway design, permitting, and construction documentation. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing projects independently while collaborating with clients, architects, surveyors, contractors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and manage site civil engineering projects from conceptual planning through construction.
- Prepare and review site plans, grading plans, utility plans, drainage plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and construction documents.
- Perform site feasibility and due diligence evaluations.
- Develop grading, drainage, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, water, utility, and roadway designs.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Coordinate civil engineering designs with architects, structural engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, geotechnical consultants, and environmental professionals.
- Prepare project submissions and coordinate approvals with municipalities and regulatory agencies.
- Assist with zoning, site plan, subdivision, and other land-use approval processes.
- Coordinate with local municipalities, including the City of Buffalo and surrounding towns, villages, and counties.
- Coordinate permitting requirements with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), Erie County, and other agencies as applicable.
- Design and coordinate stormwater management systems in accordance with applicable New York State and local requirements.
- Perform site inspections and construction observations.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, change orders, pay applications, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical support during construction and assist in resolving field and design issues.
- Prepare project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and fee proposals.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding project status, technical issues, schedules, and budgets.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Maintain accurate project files, calculations, correspondence, permits, plans, and other documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant site/civil engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New York.
- Strong understanding of site development and civil engineering principles.
- Experience with grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway design, and erosion and sediment control.
- Familiarity with New York State and local permitting and land development processes.
- Ability to interpret surveys, geotechnical reports, architectural plans, utility information, and other technical documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
