HDM Tax Group is seeking a motivated Tax Accounting Intern to support our team with tax preparation, accounting, and client-service activities. This opportunity is well suited for a current college student or recent graduate who wants practical experience in a professional tax and accounting environment.
The intern will work alongside experienced professionals, develop a stronger understanding of tax compliance, and gain exposure to the processes involved in serving individuals and businesses. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with numbers, and eager to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of individual and business tax returns
- Organize and review client tax documents for completeness
- Enter financial and tax information accurately into applicable software
- Assist with bookkeeping, account reconciliations, and workpaper preparation
- Conduct basic tax research under team supervision
- Maintain organized electronic files and documentation
- Track missing information and help prepare client follow-up requests
- Protect confidential client and financial information
- Support other tax-season and administrative projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing, or recently completed, a degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
- Introductory coursework in accounting or taxation preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to manage assignments and meet deadlines
- Professional judgment when handling confidential information
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback
Prior tax preparation experience is helpful but not required. Training and supervision will be provided.
