Join our dynamic mental health team as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) serving the Newport News area. Duties
- Provide intensive crisis services in the client’s residence, hotel (if homeless), and/or community at a frequency based on the need of the individual.· Offer goal-directed short/long-term counseling interventions to stabilize an individual’s mental health condition and prevent the individual from being at risk for hospitalization due to psychiatric instability.· Monitor psychiatric symptoms and refer individuals for crisis intervention evaluation/inpatient admission if symptoms intensify to the degree the individual is at risk for imminent harm to self or others.· Monitor medication adherence and ensure individuals complete a psychiatric evaluation during crisis admission.· Refer clients for community resources and professional mental health and medical supports needed to stabilize their condition.· Collaborate with wraparound service providers through service coordination efforts that are documented in the client record.· Complete daily progress notes, discharge reports, service authorization reports, incident reports, and other case documentation according to agency procedures.· Ensure that service documentation is individualized based on the needs and progress of the individual.· Submit all documentation by agency deadlines.· Attend weekly clinical supervision with Clinical Supervisor (LMHP) at a time designated by the Supervisor.· Attend company meetings as scheduled.· Remain in compliance with agency policies and procedures.· Perform other duties as required.
- Engage in case management activities, coordinating with other healthcare providers to support patients with co-occurring disorders or complex mental health needs.Requirements
- Valid licensure or certification as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or equivalent in the state of practice.
- Proven experience working with children and adults in clinical or outpatient settings; familiarity with pediatrics and special education is preferred.
- Experience with medical terminology, medical records management, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and clinical documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care; ability to handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently.

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet and maintain QMHP-A/C/T Registration or be License eligible status with the Virginia Board of Counseling regarding education, experience, and continuing education. Additionally, candidates must possess a working knowledge of the areas of need for adults with serious mental illness and appropriate clinical skills to facilitate training in daily living skills. It is essential to be able to work from a person-centered framework when providing training services and to have clinical interviewing skills. Candidates should also have an understanding or ability to train in appropriate mental health skill-building and crisis interventions. The ability to identify clinical risk factors for suicide, violence, and other risk-taking behaviors is required. A valid Virginia Driver’s License is also required for employment.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
