Procurement Manager –
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for management and continuous improvement of SAE's Commercial Procurement supply chain, executing SAE's procurement strategy. Will be responsible for the daily activities of the Commercial Procurement Department including management and training of staff, continuous supply of material to meet SAE's business objectives, maintenance of department procedures to meet regulatory requirements, negotiation and execution of supplier long term agreements, coordinating efforts and initiatives between the Procurement Department and other facility departments to meet SAE's corporate metrics and resolve issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPOSNIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the department manager.
- Compliance with department's KPI's for delivery performance, shortages, and expedites.
- Strategic planning for LTA negotiation and LTA approval
- Material order planning and maintenance - all commercial products
- MRP system data management
- Inventory management and reduction initiatives
- Risk Management including supplier performance and assessment, supplier selection, new item implementation, issue resolution.
- Cost down research, initiatives, and projects.
- Supervision and training of department staff
- Process improvement activities
- Department compliance to customer, regulatory, and SAE rules and procedures.
- Update of department procedures
- Continuous management of the SAE supply chain to meet current and new company objectives, including evaluation of current and potential supplier's capabilities to meet SAE requirements.
- Report/present department activities in company meetings and monthly reports.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a solid understanding of ERP software systems. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Must be familiar with machine shop environments as well as AS9100 and/or ISO 9001. Ability to read and understand blueprint drawings and process specifications is required. Strong negotiation skills are required. Excellent prioritization, organization, and multi-tasking skills are required. Must have strong communication and leadership skills. Experience leading company projects is highly preferred. Experience with aerospace MRO business is favorable.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must have a minimum of seven (7) years procurement experience and two (2) years of management experience. B.A. or B.S. is required. (Length of experience in the industry may be considered as a substitute.) Aerospace experience is highly preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be proficient in English, writing and speaking. Japanese language skills are a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have solid mathematical skills. Ability to interpret financial reports is preferred.
REASONING ABILITY: Must have excellent reasoning and risk analysis skills and be able to make critical strategic decisions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Purchasing and/or project management accreditations are a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: None other than travel is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Will work in the SAE Procurement Department currently overseeing the daily operation of three (3) Buyers. Will report to the Commercial Operations Director. Will interact with all areas of the SAE facility and will be responsible for the SAE supply chain.
