We are recruiting on behalf of an established international business for a Reefer Technician to join its growing operation in Beaverton, Oregon. This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for maintaining, servicing and repairing refrigerated containers and trailers, ensuring temperature-controlled equipment remains safe, compliant and fully operational. Working closely with operations and engineering teams, you will play a key role in maintaining cold chain integrity, reducing downtime and delivering a high standard of service to customers.
The Company
Our client is an established international business specializing in containerized storage and temperature-controlled solutions. Operating across multiple global markets, the company supports customers in industries where reliable refrigeration and cold chain performance are critical.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their technical team with an experienced Reefer Technician who can maintain high operational standards while ensuring refrigerated equipment performs safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on refrigerated containers and trailer units.
- Diagnose and repair refrigeration, electrical and mechanical faults.
- Inspect temperature control and monitoring systems to ensure correct operation.
- Complete pre-trip, pre-load and post-return inspections.
- Carry out refrigerant handling, leak detection and system recharging in line with EPA regulations.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA Section 608 regulations and company safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and compliance documentation.
- Ensure refrigerated equipment meets food safety and temperature control requirements.
- Report recurring faults, defects and safety concerns promptly.
- Work closely with operations and dispatch teams to schedule maintenance efficiently.
- Provide technical support to operational teams where required.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage spare parts usage and highlight stock requirements.
Experience Required
- Technical qualification or equivalent experience in Refrigeration & HVAC, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred).
- Manufacturer training would be advantageous.
- Strong fault-finding skills across refrigeration, electrical and mechanical systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Experience using digital maintenance or service reporting systems.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, compliance and quality.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and equipment maintenance.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
