As an Electrician, your work focuses on performing the installation, maintenance and repair of systems within the facility, ensuring preventative and ongoing monitoring and issue resolution. These efforts are vital to our mission to become the best places to receive healthcare in the world.
A caregiver in this position works Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, fixtures, controls, and components throughout hospital facilities.
- Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency power equipment, generators, motors, controls, and related infrastructure.
- Diagnose electrical issues and implement timely solutions to minimize disruptions to patient care and hospital operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and electrical diagrams.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, safety standards, and organizational policies.
- Support facility maintenance activities in related trades, including HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical repairs, as directed by department leadership.
- Respond to routine, urgent, and emergency maintenance requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Document completed work, maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in accordance with departmental procedures and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Operate and maintain tools, testing equipment, and machinery required to perform assigned duties.
- Collaborate with facilities, engineering, clinical, and operational teams to support a safe and functional healthcare environment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while consistently adhering to infection prevention and workplace safety requirements.
- Coordinate and perform electrical equipment maintenance, installations and modifications according to applicable codes and regulations.
- Coordinate and perform testing of electrical systems as required by codes.
- Troubleshoot and analyze electrical problems.
- Assist contractors with locating and avoiding hidden electrical circuits.
- Perform and develop preventative maintenance measures for electrical equipment in compliance with applicable codes and standards to ensure operational readiness and performance.
- Work across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Three years of experience as a fully qualified Electrician OR military experience a Construction Electrician (CE), Engineman (EN), Interior Electrician (12R), Electrical Systems (3E0X1) or similar role
- Experience with multi-phase systems of low and high voltage
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
- Knowledge of Microsoft software
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Certificate from an approved Electrical Apprenticeship Program or Trade School
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment, and maintenance practices
- Ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Knowledge of safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and applicable electrical cod Proficiency in maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records

Personal Protective Equipment:

Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $30.41
Maximum hourly: $46.38
