Whether you're a skilled trades professional looking to supplement your weekday job, someone with maintenance experience seeking consistent weekend work, or simply someone who enjoys staying active and solving problems, this could be the perfect opportunity.
Braveworks is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Maintenance Technician to provide weekend maintenance coverage across multiple properties in the Houghton area.
This is more than a typical maintenance position. You'll be the person our teams rely on when issues arise. Whether it's troubleshooting equipment, responding to an unexpected repair, completing preventative maintenance, or helping keep our properties operating at their best, you'll play an important role in supporting our guests, tenants, customers, and employees.
If you enjoy variety, can prioritize multiple tasks, work confidently without constant supervision, and take ownership of your work, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do:
Every weekend is different. One day you may be troubleshooting a mechanical issue at one property, performing preventative maintenance at another, or responding to an urgent repair that helps keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities include:

- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation using our computerized maintenance management system (AppFolio)
- Work safely while maintaining clean, organized work areas
- Coordinate with vendors and other departments when necessary
Who We're Looking For:
This position requires someone who can be trusted to work independently. Because you'll be supporting multiple Braveworks properties, you'll often be responsible for evaluating situations, determining priorities, and making good decisions without constant supervision. We're looking for someone who takes ownership, communicates well, and sees every task through to completion.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Takes ownership and follows problems through to completion
- Can prioritize multiple maintenance requests with minimal supervision
- Is calm under pressure and responds professionally to unexpected issues
- Enjoys troubleshooting and finding practical solutions
- Is dependable, self-motivated, and organized
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Communicates well and works effectively with others
- Is comfortable working independently for extended periods of time
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Technical training or certifications are a plus
- 1–3 years of maintenance or related mechanical experience preferred
- Experience with building systems, maintenance tools, and repair procedures
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics is helpful
- Physical ability to lift equipment, perform manual work, climb ladders, and work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting pay from $18 - 20.00 per hour
- $75 weekend on-call stipend
- Paid sick time in accordance with the Michigan Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA)
- Flexible part-time schedule averaging 16–18 hours per week
- Opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of properties and projects
- A workplace that values initiative, trust, and continuous improvement

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying busy, takes pride in quality workmanship, and appreciates the flexibility of a weekend-focused schedule. Whether you're supplementing a full-time skilled trades career or looking for meaningful part-time work where your experience is valued, you'll find an opportunity to make a real impact.
This position serves as Braveworks' primary weekend maintenance coverage. While not every weekend requires emergency repairs, candidates must be available to respond when needed. Good judgment, sound decision-making, and the ability to prioritize multiple situations independently are essential.
