Join the OMSI Custodial team part-time working 24 hours per week, providing custodial and support services for all OMSI facilities, activities, and events. This role works across OMSI's Portland campus, 219,000 square feet of museum space, along with multiple outbuildings, totaling over 57,000 square feet.
Custodial Duties:

Performs general custodial services, utilizing best practice for safety, efficiency, and environmental concerns

Cleans and stocks restrooms on a daily basis, ensuring proper sanitary conditions and good appearance;

Responsible for waste disposal throughout the OMSI campus, including interior and exterior spaces;

Deep cleans areas within the museum on a routine basis, as assigned by Custodial management;

Train to safely and effectively operate heavy cleaning machinery, including floor scrubbers and polishers, to perform deep cleaning tasks.

Supports OMSI departments with general custodial services

Guest facing responsibilities including interfacing and assisting guests, and coordinating with Guest Services, Museum Education and Security as needed when issues arise in the museum;

Remains knowledgeable of and supports guest safety and protocols (e.g. lost children, fire alarms), including acting quickly and effectively in case of emergency in compliance with relevant Emergency Action Plan (EAP) procedures.
Facilities Setup Duties:

Sets up and teardowns OMSI events;

Adheres to safety regulations related to facilities-related equipment, usage, and storage as assigned by Facilities management.
Successful incumbents will have, but not limited to:
- Minimum one year prior custodial-related experience;

Working knowledge with operating and maintaining custodial tools;

Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve custodial-related issues;

Ability to learn and follow safety and protocol regulations;

Ability to model and support teamwork and collaboration with colleagues with varied skills and responsibilities;
- Proven self initiative and responsible;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, often with overlapping and time-sensitive deadlines.
