PURPOSE
Responsible for safely operating and setting up various machining tools such as mills, angle grinders, band saws, hand drills, and lathes. Uses measuring devices such as micrometers, calipers with proper techniques to determine correct sizing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate a variety of machines following established company procedures and safety guidelines
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and quality specifications
- Set up and manufacture complete parts from engineering drawings minimizing scrap and rework
- Set up and operate machining department equipment
- Bridgeport, Bar Stock saw, band saw, drill press, manual lathe
- Perform machining operations including turning, boring, facing, milling, drilling, and tapping
- Perform part inspection using precision measuring instruments
- First article inspection per prescribed inspection plan
- Inspect and record succeeding parts for conformance to specification
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment including identification of unsafe conditions
- Performs other duties as assigned and/or required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to set up manual mills with fixtures/vise and tooling changes
- Experience in job shop environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Experience using shop measuring tools (such as mics, calipers, & tape measure) and related mathematical concepts
- Must be trainable and able to work with minimal direction
- Adherence to safe work practices
