Job Overview:
Lead assigned personnel to achieve productivity in their field construction activities. Responsible for job planning and scheduling at the job level while directing, coaching, and training employees assigned to the crew. Provides field and office management with reports essential for tracking job costs and develops accurate billings to customers. In addition, the foreperson is responsible for the interpersonal relationships among him/herself and the crew and other individuals and groups. Safety, Quality and Production commitments are balanced to ensure successful job completion.

- Working knowledge of various construction disciplines, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings and other documents as well as survey techniques required.
- Ability to meet and/or exceed daily production goals while ensuring work complies with drawings and specifications through daily monitoring of crew work performance and productivity.
- Monitor individual crew member’s work habits such as attendance, lateness, individual production.
- Report daily information (field measurements, time sheets) by 8:00 a.m. of the following day.
- Maintains daily notes in laptop computer to include items outlined in Company policy and procedure manual. Also, maintains notes of any job concerns (i.e. any conditions affecting the job productivity, tardiness or absenteeism of employees, etc.).
- Review material usage to include: Placement of stone, blacktop and/or concrete orders. Provide job name, job number, phase, and item number. Provide tonnage estimate, estimated delivery time and number of required trucks. Ensure delivery of materials at jobsite when needed.
- Analyzes equipment and personnel needs for the jobsite on a daily basis. Prepares equipment and personnel schedules in conjunction with General Superintendent and/or Superintendent for the following day’s work.
- Advises General Superintendent and/or Superintendent of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc. Assists in circumventing and/or resolving such problems as required.
- Assumes overall safety responsibility for assigned jobs, which includes: Conducts daily pre-job safety reviews and inspections. Conducts weekly on-the-job safety briefings with assigned personnel (Tool Box Talks). Enforces Company and regulatory safety requirements such as wearing hard hats, proper clothing, and work boots. Reports all accidents immediately to the General Superintendent and Superintendent. In the event of a safety infraction, coaches or counsels individual(s) on the proper procedures to be used in the future. In the event of continued safety infractions, notifies the General Superintendent and Superintendent. Takes immediate action to eliminate the unsafe condition. Administers first-aid in the event of an accident and completes accident reports immediately. Implements corrective action to identified problems and/or safety concerns.
- Maintains positive relationships between assigned crew and other Company groups, among members of the crew and with all LEW, Inc. customers.
- Reads and studies blue prints or contract drawings and interpretations, sets grades and runs equipment as necessary.
- Reports equipment service needs directly to the Equipment Manager and helps coordinate equipment for on-site service and repair.
- Maintains a good job appearance at all times including: Assuring that all equipment is parked in an orderly fashion at designated locations. Presents a neat personal appearance at all times. Assuring materials are placed in an orderly fashion when finished with the job each day. Coordinates any excess disposal through the Project Superintendent or General Superintendent. Completes material slips with job and material numbers and gives a material slip to the General Superintendent or places the slip in the inbox in the accounting department daily.
- Conducts on-the-job training for assigned personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the General Superintendent or Superintendent.
- Informs Project Superintendent of any changes to the job site.
- Works safely around equipment and moves quickly on rough terrain.
- Has knowledge of and adheres to safety requirements and standards within the construction industry.
- Must have/obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have and demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Must have/obtain current CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Must be/become a “Competent Person”.
- Must have/obtain current Confined Space Training Certification.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of construction supervisory experience or equivalent in a specific craft or trade.
- Must have computer experience in a construction application.
Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
