Cal/OSHA’s Legal Unit is looking for talented, independent, and creative individuals to serve as our Legal Support Supervisor I in our Los Angeles office. Incumbent will oversee at least 8-12 support staff spread across southern California, including but not limited to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Santa Ana. May also oversee support staff in Northern California.
Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel of the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Division or DOSH), as a member of a legal support secretarial team, the incumbent supervises the work of legal secretarial and clerical support staff providing legal support services to a large professional staff of attorneys and special investigators in the Bureau of Investigations unit (BOI). The incumbent may perform responsible legal secretarial work in addition to supervision of a legal support team.

We have newly renovated offices with both artificial and natural lighting, and adjustable standing desks. Employees in this position have their own cubicles, work at desks, and are required to work extensively on computers, scanners, copiers, telephones, faxes, and/or shredders as necessary for processing work, drafting email communication as necessary to accomplish their duties. This position also requires in-state travel, either locally within Southern California, or for one to three-day overnight trips within California, based on assignments, and as determined according to the needs of DOSH. The Legal Support Supervisor I (LSSI) will normally average a 40-hour work week, however they are expected to work all hours as necessary to accomplish their assignments and fulfill their responsibilities.
Please note that although support staff are currently teleworking, per the Governor’s signed Executive Order N-22-25 issued on March 3, 2025, all staff may need to report 4 days in-office with 1 teleworking day starting July 1, 2026.
