Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Coordinator to join our team to prep and serve catered meals from a steam table. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within our food service environment. The Meal Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the kitchen, kitchen staff, food distribution, storage, ordering meals, inventory, HDMs, maintaining the kitchen and food service areas at SASC in compliance with all food safety regulations, and Department of Agriculture, and in accordance with YCAAA directives and reporting guidelines. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, overseeing the HDM program and daily congregate meal programs. This position will work as assigned. The Meal Coordinator will report directly to the Executive Director.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8 AM-1 PM. Schedule may be revised if needed. Availability also for working some evenings and weekends to assist with programming, special events, and Nutrition Group meetings.
Responsibilities
1. Management of kitchen and kitchen aides/volunteers.
2. Monthly scheduling of kitchen aides/volunteers.
3. Notify your kitchen staff, HDM drivers, HDM consumers in the event of center closures.
4. Maintain the HDM program
5. Coordinate and maintain the congregate lunch program.
6. Inventory, Supplies, and documentation of Food
REQUIRED:
1. All employees will be submitted to a criminal background check. No applicants with convictions of violence or true issues will be considered.
2. Comply with all food safety regulations
3. Ensure food safety with knowledge of proper sanitization procedures
4. Understand the special needs and problems of the aging population in our area.
5. Maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum education required is a high school diploma or GED (plus experience).
2. Meal Coordinator must become ServSafe certified within 3 months of employment.
3. Acquire 6 hours of approved training per year, as required by the YCAAA.
4. Attend yearly training day with YCASC.
5. Attend quarterly Meetings with Nutrition Group and other county Meal Coordinators.
ABILITIES
1. Ability to document, organize, and schedule meals, supplies, etc
2. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
3. Ability to stand for the entire shift.
4. Ability to work effectively with staff, senior members, volunteers, related agencies, and the public.
5. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written.
6. Ability to recruit and maintain HDM volunteers and Kitchen volunteers
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
