Territory: Northwest Indiana & Southwest Michigan
Compensation: $50,000–$80,000 total annual earnings (base salary plus uncapped commission)
Von Tobel, a 100% employee-owned building materials supplier with over 60 years of service excellence, is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to support and grow our professional contractor customer base in Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan.
This role manages existing contractor accounts, while actively developing new contractor relationships. If you currently sell building materials to contractors—or have experience estimating lumber and millwork products—we encourage you to apply.
What You Will Do
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of professional contractor accounts
- Develop new business within Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan
- Estimate building materials, lumber, and millwork packages from blueprints and take-offs
- Prepare and follow up on quotes to secure sales
- Visit job sites to strengthen contractor relationships and provide consultative support
- Source special-order building materials as needed
- Coordinate deliveries with dispatch to ensure timely and accurate service
- Identify opportunities to expand product offerings within existing accounts
What You Bring
- 2–3 years of building materials or contractor sales experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of lumber estimating experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and perform accurate material take-offs
- Demonstrated ability to grow sales within a territory
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with estimating systems and standard business software
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and proof of insurance
- Self-motivated with a high level of accountability
Compensation & Growth
- Base salary plus uncapped commission
- Realistic total annual earnings: $50,000–$80,000
