Position Purpose
The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Bakery Department, including sales growth, product quality, production planning, merchandising, inventory management, food safety, customer service, and associate development. This role ensures the department operates efficiently, meets financial objectives, and consistently delivers high-quality bakery products and exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop bakery associates.
- Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct associate evaluations.
- Create and maintain a positive, customer-focused work environment.
- Schedule and allocate labor effectively to support operational needs.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure associates are properly trained in production procedures, food safety, and customer service standards.
Sales & Financial Performance
- Achieve department sales, gross profit, shrink, and labor goals.
- Monitor financial reports and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement action plans to increase sales and profitability.
- Manage inventory levels to support sales while minimizing waste and shrink.
- Execute promotional programs and seasonal merchandising initiatives.
Customer Experience
- Deliver outstanding customer service through quality products and department presentation.
- Maintain high standards for freshness, variety, and product availability.
- Resolve customer concerns and special-order requests promptly and professionally.
- Ensure associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service.
- Build customer loyalty through exceptional product quality and service.
Bakery Production & Merchandising
- Oversee daily bakery production, packaging, and merchandising activities.
- Ensure products meet company quality standards and production specifications.
- Plan and manage production levels based on sales trends and forecasts.
- Maintain attractive displays and proper product rotation.
- Ensure department merchandising aligns with company standards and promotional plans.
- Monitor inventory and ordering processes to maintain in-stock conditions.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Maintain clean and organized work, storage, and display areas.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of bakery products.
- Conduct routine inspections to verify compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Address and correct food safety or sanitation concerns immediately.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain department standards for productivity, efficiency, and execution.
- Ensure all bakery equipment is operated safely and maintained properly.
- Monitor production schedules and workflow to maximize efficiency.
- Oversee inventory counts and department recordkeeping.
- Ensure execution of all company programs, procedures, and operational initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
