Job description:
The ideal candidate will have experience in a clinical or other reference laboratory setting, or in a research laboratory setting. We are looking for an understanding of and the ability to carry out sterile technique while working with biological samples. Also required are precise and accurate pipetting skills, understanding of laboratory safety procedures, and understanding of laboratory quality control procedures. Experience with automated liquid handling instrumentation and with mammalian cell culture techniques is a plus.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing and analyses according to established procedures, quality standards, and safety regulations.
· Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of test results to support patient diagnosis and clinical decision-making.
· Maintain laboratory equipment through routine preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
· Adhere to all CLIA, CAP, and company policies to ensure compliance and laboratory accreditation.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory workflow, quality, and efficiency.
· Process and label specimens; perform data entry and documentation in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
· Conduct laboratory tests using automated analyzers and manual methods for hematology, chemistry, molecular, or other assays.
· Prepare and maintain reagents, calibrators, and quality control materials.
· Perform quality control testing and record results according to laboratory protocols.
· Participate in instrument preventive maintenance (PM) and assist in troubleshooting technical issues.
· Follow biosafety, chemical safety, and infection control procedures at all times.
· Document deviations, corrective actions, and assist during internal and external audits or inspections.
· Collaborate with other laboratory staff to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication.
· Daily receipt and processing of samples.
· Isolation and culture of lymphocytes from blood samples.
· Labeling, harvesting, and analysis of lymphocyte cultures.
· Working with liquid handling instrumentation.
· Working with cell culture media and reagents.
· Running daily and weekly QC samples.
· QC and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
· Documentation of laboratory procedures.
· General lab maintenance and QC.
· Willing to perform other work-related duties as required.
Job Specifications:
· Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field/area that includes the appropriate number of biology and chemistry hours.
· ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
· 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting preferred.
· Knowledge of laboratory safety practices, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
· Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· The ability to multitask and manage daily changes in workflow with flexibility and good judgement.
· The ability to work in a changing team environment, as well as independently, with efficiency, accuracy, and professionalism.
· The ability to execute good laboratory techniques when handling samples.
· The ability to be meticulous, with high attention to detail.
· Ability to pass MNT Isolation test after isolation training.
· Capable of labeling, harvesting, and analysis of lymphocyte cultures.
· Must adhere to all HIPPA regulations, OSHA and CLIA rules and regulations for laboratories including use of PPE.
· Able to work overtime when necessary.
· Must be flexible and willing to work in areas and on problems that may not normally be part of the position but required for the efficient operation of the business.
