Position Description:
Plans, directs, and evaluates preparation and administration of regular, therapeutics, and modified diets prescribed by the providers for the patients/residents with normal and nutritional needs by RDA and ADA Patient Care Standards. Performs nutritional assessments and documents the results timely. Completes outpatient consultations within a reasonable time frame. Communicates with Providers and Nursing Staff for the Nutritional needs and recommendations regarding each patient/resident. Directs a controlled nourishment program for residents/patients. Researches and evaluates industry best practices and implements them in coordination with the Director of Food & Nutrition Services to create an exceptional dining experience for all residents/patients. Implements improvements to standardized menus, meal selections, and the assembly and delivery of meal service. Develops a training process and module directed at process, procedures, products, and services that create a positive patient experience as it pertains to dining services. Meets with resident/patient families on a regular basis. Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with Social Workers, Nursing and Case Management staff to keep informed of any admissions, discharges, and or diet changes. Discusses findings, changes, and any new policy's and procedures to the FNS Director at monthly leadership meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD) and/or have licensure/certification in the state of Texas. Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, successful completion of Dietetic Internship or equivalent.
Knowledge and Skills:
2 years of clinical experience (Senior living skilled nursing facility, assisted living, rehabilitation, and/or acute care environment - Preferred).
