As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a safety-focused and experienced Dozer Operator to operate a John Deer 650 as a member of cable plow crew in our Renewable Energy Division.
The Role:
This Dozer Operator will use their John Deer 650 to pull the lead reel trailor that carries our Medium Voltage (MV) Cabling. This 8-10 man crew is responsible for plowing and installing this Medium Voltage and Fiber Optic cabling for renewable energy projects across the Southeastern United States. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a field crew in a fast-paced environment. Each project will typically last three weeks on-site with one week off in between projects. Lodging for these assignments will be provided along with $50 daily per diem or $150 daily per diem if lodging is obtained independently.
Additional equipment may include, but is not limited to, excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, and related support equipment.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment safely and in accordance with company policies, safe work procedures, and site requirements.
- Maneuver equipment around job sites while maintaining awareness of crew members, utilities, and surrounding hazards.
- Assist with handling and placement of fiber, conduit, and related materials.
- Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and ensure all mechanical, safety, and emergency systems are functioning properly.
- Follow all safety procedures when working near energized utilities, traffic, or confined spaces.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including final grading and site restoration.
- Complete required paperwork such as daily logs, equipment inspections, hours of service, and work orders.
- Communicate with the Crew Supervisor regarding site conditions, equipment performance, and safety concerns.
- Assist crew members with related tasks as required to support overall project progress.
What you Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating a Dozer
- Underground Utility or Renewable Energy Experience is a huge plus
- Heavy equipment operator certification is considered an asset.
- Valid US driver’s license with a clean driver’s record.
- Experience working around underground or energized utilities is a plus
Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
