POSITION SUMMARY
Seeking a highly responsible Outdoor Power Equipment Operator Delivery Driver to join our team to transport and deliver equipment and/or goods between stores and customers. Position is based on site out of our Chesapeake, VA location with workdays Monday-Friday, and Saturday during season. Ideal candidates will have professional driving experience in the regional area. This position requires successful completion of a background check.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick up equipment, machinery and parts from stores or the warehouse and deliver to other stores and customers.
- Load completed packages from warehouse or store to loading dock for transit.
- Become familiar with warehouse and facility equipment storage areas in which equipment, machinery and parts are stored as to easily identify items to be delivered.
- Coordinate completion of service tickets, schedule deliveries, and maintain applicable paperwork.
- Maintain effective, prompt communication with supervisor and store management including unexpected changes or challenges regarding transportation, deliveries, and timing.
- Ensure the company vehicle is well maintained.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Current, valid Virginia driver’s license
- At least one (1) year of driving experience, with a good driving record
- Good knowledge of outdoor power and landscaping equipment.
- Observe proper safety protocols, follow company policies and guidelines, and obey all applicable driving laws and regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, organization, time management, critical thinking, and multi-tasking skills.
- Present in a manner that is consistently polished, courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and patient.
- Experience with electronic ticketing systems and processes.
- Adherence to instructions, delivery schedules, deadlines, and reporting requirements.
- Effectively operate company vehicles, computers, and other equipment.
- Report to work on time and work all scheduled hours. May be required to work beyond scheduled hours.
- Able to move about, in and outside of buildings, climb in, out, and onto vehicles, trucks, trailer beds, and loading docks.
- Subject to frequent interruptions, high levels of noise, heights, grease, fumes, dirt, and fluctuations in weather conditions.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted, operate, move, install, and transport equipment, machinery, and parts. Able to sit, stand and maintain a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Able to distinguish sounds between normal tones, comprehend and exchange ideas and detailed information verbally. Normal sense of touch and smell.
- Able to observe and identify surroundings, judge distances and spatial relationships to see objects where and as they actually are. Ability to distinguish colors.
- Able to concentrate, recognize, remember, reason, analyze, and make sound decisions.
- Involves minimal risk to physical and/or mental health and safety, 25-50% of the time (e.g., exposure to heavy equipment, etc.).
