American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Mother-Baby (Postpartum) position at a Birmingham, AL hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of postpartum experience and AHA-issued BLS and NRP certifications.

Work setting is a 27-bed Mother-Baby (postpartum) unit within a comprehensive hospital facility

Patient population consists of postpartum couplets (mother and newborn)
-
Patient ratio is 1:3–4 couplets
-
Equipment used includes Alaris IV pumps, Medela breast pumps, and Medela Breastmilk Warmers
-
EMR is currently Cerner, transitioning to Epic on or after 8/1/2026
-
Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
-
13-week contract

Schedule requires every other Friday and Saturday

36 hours per week
-
Active AL RN license or compact RN license currently in hand; no hits on license accepted

Current AHA-issued certifications required: BLS and NRP (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted)

Minimum of 2 years of recent postpartum RN experience required

Proficiency in postpartum maternal and newborn assessments, PPH management, HTN management, and OB Sepsis management

Candidate must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

SSN and DOB required for consideration

Primary responsibilities include postpartum couplet care for mothers and newborns

Preferred experience in postpartum couplet care (mother and newborn together)

The facility holds Advanced Certification in Perinatal Care from The Joint Commission and includes a Women's Medical Center with a Level III NICU on campus

Required scrub color is navy; fleece and plain t-shirts are not acceptable attire

Natural nails are required; no artificial nails permitted
