Join our dynamic team as an Aquatics Director and lead the development, management, and success of our first responder staff and facilities. We are looking for someone who wants to collaborate as a member of our Management team and whose work ethic supports our growth mindset. You will oversee Lifeguard and member services staff, ensure a safe, high-quality aquatic environment for our patrons, make small equipment repairs and manage pool logistics at our outdoor facility. Your leadership will inspire staff, elevate guest experiences, and be a key player on our management team.
Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of aquatic facility operations, including scheduling, maintenance, and safety protocols.
- Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and development of up to 45 Lifeguard and Membership Services team members (staff numbers vary seasonally).
- Lead and supervise a team of lifeguards, front desk staff, and ensure smooth daily operations while deliver exceptional guest services.
- Develop and implement training programs for staff on safety procedures, customer service excellence, and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate reports on facility usage, incident logs, safety inspections, and make small necessary repairs to deck equipment(lane lines, reels, flags, etc.)
- Provide regular performance feedback, support certification and training requirements, and foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs and provide on-call coverage when necessary.
- Review and approve time cards prior to bimonthly payrolls.
- Ensure regular audits, up-to-date staff certifications, and monthly Lifeguard in-services occur and meet association standards.
- Run a minimum of five lifeguard certification programs per year to members of the public.
- Certify all aquatics staff throughout the year.
- Maintain pool logistics for all aquatic programs throughout the year in both pools.
- Applicant must possess a high level of organization and communication to ensure lane space remains trackable and without conflict.
- Work with the Executive Director to compile quarterly lane usage reports to compare to budget predictions.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in aquatics management or related first responder environment.
- 5+ years of Lifeguard Experience (required)
- Lifeguard Instructor Certification (If expired must recertify within 60 days) with experience running certification classes. (2 years experience required)
- Supervising experience with a strong ability to motivate and develop teams.
- High skill level in forms/Excel & writing skills with attention to detail in pool lane management.
- Maintain documentation and operational records of equipment repairs and inventory.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle scheduling conflicts & shift management efficiently.
- Must be available during the week & on weekends for shifts. Pool shifts are 5:00 am-8:30a.m., 10:45-3:00 pm, 6:00-10:00pm. The pool is open most holidays 7-4.
