Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trailers within the yard, ensuring that all freight is handled properly and that operations run smoothly. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, as well as experience with various types of trucks and trailers.
Duties
- Safely operate yard trucks to move trailers in and out of designated areas within the facility.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on all vehicles to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight from trailers using forklifts or other equipment as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to coordinate deliveries and pickups, ensuring timely operations.
- Monitor yard conditions and report any issues or hazards to management promptly.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Experience in truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailer combinations, is preferred.
- Familiarity with various types of trailers including flatbed, tanker, and freight trailers is a plus.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently; certification may be required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety protocols at all times.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience in route driving or delivery driving is advantageous but not mandatory.
