Duties
- Organize, file, and maintain comprehensive medical records in accordance with organizational policies and legal standards
- Ensure all patient information is accurately entered into Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality
- Retrieve and provide medical records promptly upon request for clinical staff, patients, or authorized third parties
- Verify the accuracy of medical documentation, including test results, treatment notes, and billing information
- Assist with the scanning, indexing, and digitization of paper records into electronic systems
- Maintain strict compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA by safeguarding sensitive patient information
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to update and correct medical records as needed to reflect current patient status
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and electronic documentation processes
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology to accurately interpret and organize clinical data
- Experience managing medical records in compliance with privacy regulations and organizational policies
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally
