JOB DESCRIPTION Laboratory Technician I
Location: Houston, TX
Position Summary:
A leading laboratory services organization is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to perform routine laboratory testing under close supervision to determine chemical or physical characteristics designated by the client. The role includes ensuring compliance with safety regulations, documenting test results, calibrating equipment, and adhering to quality standards.
Essential Functions:
- Receive, log, and organize incoming field samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
- Accurately complete laboratory data sheets and enter test results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or other laboratory databases.
- Read, understand, and follow applicable analytical methods and safety standards, including ASTM, UOP, IP, and laboratory SOPs.
- Assist senior laboratory personnel with the setup, calibration, adjustment, and operation of laboratory equipment after receiving appropriate training and competency verification.
- Perform routine analytical testing and sample preparation in accordance with established methods, procedures, and quality standards under the direction of the Laboratory Manager.
- Prepare reagents, standards, and chemical solutions using established formulas and laboratory procedures.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and work areas to ensure a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
- Support day-to-day laboratory operations by assisting with sample handling, documentation, inventory, and other general laboratory activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- AAS or higher (Chemistry, Biology etc)
- Laboratory experience will be considered in lieu of education
- Strong understanding of analytical laboratory practices and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Frequent use of hands for handling laboratory tools and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in laboratory environments with petroleum or chemical odors within OSHA permissible exposure limits
- Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required
- Laboratory setting with potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals
Moderate noise environment
- Compliance with all laboratory safety and environmental policies is required

Shift Schedule:
Monday Friday 8am-5pm
Pay Rate:
$18/hr
