About Upright Medical Group
Upright Medical Group is developing an I-693 Immigration Medical Exam program to serve immigrant communities in Huntsville and surrounding areas.
We are looking for a licensed physician, M.D. or D.O. only, to serve as the Civil Surgeon clinical authority for this program.
The ideal candidate is already a USCIS-designated Civil Surgeon. However, we are also open to working with a qualified M.D. or D.O. who is willing to apply for USCIS Civil Surgeon designation.
Position Overview
This is a paid, part-time contract opportunity. The physician will be compensated for each completed I-693 patient.
The physician will be responsible for the clinical Civil Surgeon portion of the I-693 process, including patient review, physical examination, final medical determination, and completion/signature/sealing of Form I-693 according to USCIS and CDC requirements.
Upright Medical Group will support the physician by handling patient communication, scheduling, intake, documentation organization, patient education, payment collection, and follow-up.
Compensation
Compensation ranges from $100 to $120 per completed I-693 patient.
Payment is issued according to the agreed per-patient rate for completed I-693 cases.
Clinic sessions will be scheduled based on patient demand, completed patient preparation, and mutual availability. Patient volume may vary during the initial launch phase of the program.
Required Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree only.
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Alabama.
- Current USCIS Civil Surgeon designation OR willingness to apply for USCIS Civil Surgeon designation.
- Willingness to work as a contract physician.
- Ability to provide on-site clinical services in Huntsville, AL for scheduled I-693 examination days.
- Professional, reliable, organized, and comfortable serving immigrant patient populations.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Current USCIS Civil Surgeon designation.
- Experience with Form I-693 immigration medical exams.
- Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, primary care, urgent care, occupational medicine, or a related field.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus but not required.
Physician Responsibilities
- Perform the required immigration medical examination.
- Review patient medical history, vaccination records, and required laboratory results.
- Make the final clinical determination.
- Complete, sign, and seal Form I-693 according to USCIS and CDC requirements.
- Maintain full clinical authority over the medical examination and I-693 completion.
- Communicate with staff regarding missing documentation, follow-up needs, or patient-specific requirements.
- Upright Medical Group Responsibilities
- Upright Medical Group will handle patient marketing, patient communication, scheduling, intake, file preparation, organization of vaccination records, coordination of lab/vaccine documentation, payment collection, patient education, and follow-up.
Schedule
Flexible schedule.
Clinic sessions will be scheduled as patient volume develops. During the initial launch phase, sessions may be scheduled when prepared patients are ready for review and examination.
As the program grows, Upright Medical Group and the physician may discuss a more consistent schedule, such as weekly, biweekly, or monthly clinic days.
Important Requirement
Only M.D. or D.O. physicians will be considered.
Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Medical Assistants, and other healthcare professionals are not eligible for this specific Civil Surgeon role.
