Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Child Care Center Cook to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for children in our care. Your culinary skills will contribute to the overall well-being and development of the children, ensuring they receive balanced meals that meet dietary guidelines. This position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about food service and have a genuine interest in child nutrition. We will train you on the Food Program to help the office staff maintain the operations of our food program.
Duties
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, ensuring all food is nutritious and appealing.
- Plan and organize meal preparation in accordance with dietary requirements and preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering supplies and monitoring stock levels.
- Collaborate with dietary aides and other staff to ensure a smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Provide support during meal service, ensuring children are served promptly and courteously.
- Participate in menu planning, incorporating seasonal ingredients when possible.
Experience
- Previous experience in the food industry or culinary field is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with food handling practices and safety regulations is essential.
- Experience working in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for effective meal preparation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
