Position: Substitute Teacher (Certified)

Salary: Beginning at $125 per day (see step schedule below)

Certified Substitute Teachers provide instruction and supervision when a teacher is absent, supporting learning continuity across a variety of assignments—such as classroom teachers, intervention specialists, and specialty-area teachers (e.g., art, music, Spanish, etc.). Substitute teachers help maintain a safe, positive learning environment and keep students engaged with planned lessons and activities.
Daily rates increase based on days worked within the same school year:

To further support substitutes, those who complete five (5) days of work during the school year are eligible for reimbursement of:

Successful substitute teachers are:
Dependable, punctual, and flexible
Positive, professional, and student-focused
Effective classroom managers who can follow lesson plans and maintain routines
Strong communicators who work well with students and staff
Must hold a valid substitute teaching license and/or appropriate Ohio teaching credentials (as required for substitute teaching)
Must meet district employment requirements, including background checks as applicable
Apply to be a Certified Substitute Teacher with Rossford Schools. Substitute opportunities are offered on an as-needed basis across grade levels and buildings.
In accordance with State law, the Rossford Board of Education requires a criminal background check through the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) records for each applicant the Superintendent recommends for employment.
