Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and assist with patient check-in and check-out processes using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software; coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily patient flow.
- Process payments and perform medical collections in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health insurance guidelines.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; respond promptly to patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately.
- Assist with billing procedures, including coding using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding for accurate claims submission.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role; clinic or dental office experience is highly preferred.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including verification, billing, Medicare guidelines, and HIPAA compliance.
- Excellent customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review, filing, and data entry tasks such as 10-key typing.
- Experience working in hospital or dental clinics is advantageous; familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management is a bonus.
