Job Brief: The Painter shall coat surfaces of customer aircraft details/assemblies with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, spray guns and other devices, removes old paint from aircraft details/assemblies using liquid paint remover, scraper, or removal systems. Smoothens surface with aluminum oxide paper and scotch-brite, properly prepares aluminum surfaces for adequate paint adhesion, masks and covers portions of aircraft surfaces not to be painted.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Surface preparation of parts (mechanical and chemical.)
- Perform stripping, painting, and polishing on aircraft parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Calculates mix ratios in order to mix sealant, filler materials, and paint
- Set-up and operate various types of paint spraying equipment.
- Performs moderately complex to complex filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the part being worked
- Removes excess material and prepares the surface for finishing
- Performs difficult masking operations
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Execute all required paperwork in connection with assigned normal duties.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to perform prolonged periods of standing throughout the work shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm; weekends/overtime as required.
Experience and/or Educational Requirements
- High School or equivalent (preferred).
- Automotive refinishing experience a plus
- Must be able to read and write English
- Knowledge in working with Microsoft Office and Databases.
