Nursery & Greenhouse Assistant (Part-Time)
Position: Nursery & Greenhouse Assistant
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week
Location: Parker, Colorado
Desert Blooms is a family-owned nursery specializing in water-wise perennials, rock garden plants, succulents, and cold-hardy cacti. We are seeking a dependable, hardworking individual who enjoys working outdoors and has a passion for plants.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in plant cultivation, greenhouse management, irrigation, and nursery operations while helping maintain healthy, thriving plants. As our business continues to grow, there may be opportunities for additional hours and potentially a full-time position in the future.
Responsibilities
- Water plants using hand watering and irrigation systems
- Assist with planting, transplanting, pruning, and general plant maintenance
- Monitor plant health and identify watering or care needs
- Maintain greenhouse environments to support healthy plant growth
- Operate irrigation systems and assist with watering schedules
- Move plants, trays, pallets, and nursery supplies throughout the greenhouse
- Assist with order preparation, labeling, and inventory organization
- Use hand tools and equipment safely for planting and nursery maintenance
- Help maintain clean, organized greenhouse and nursery work areas
- Support general nursery operations as needed
Qualifications
- Experience in horticulture, agriculture, landscaping, or greenhouse work
- Previous nursery, greenhouse, farming, landscaping, or plant-growing experience preferred.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and greenhouse operations is a plus
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Basic plant identification skills are helpful but not required
- Able to drive to the facility in the snow
