Summary
Grapeland Junior High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Junior High Special Education Inclusion Teacher. This full-time position is designed for an enthusiastic educator who is committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure that all students can access the curriculum and achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of all students.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities in both inclusion and pull-out settings.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure academic success.
- Conduct assessments and collect data to inform instructional decisions and IEP updates.
- Facilitate communication between parents, teachers, and support staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events to promote a positive school culture.
- Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school community.
- Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Stay current with best practices in special education and inclusion strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of educators and support staff.
- Knowledge of various teaching strategies and interventions for students with diverse learning needs.
