Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Tree Climber to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive climbing and rigging experience, the ability to safely perform technical tree removals and pruning, and the leadership skills necessary to direct a crew on job sites.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise tree crews on residential and commercial job sites
- Perform tree removals, pruning, and storm damage work
- Safely climb trees using industry-approved climbing techniques
- Set up and operate rigging systems for safe removals
- Conduct daily safety assessments and enforce safety procedures
- Communicate effectively with crew members and customers
- Assist with equipment maintenance and inspections
- Ensure jobs are completed efficiently and professionally
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of professional tree climbing experience preferred
- Experience with technical rigging and large tree removals
- Ability to lead and motivate a crew
- Knowledge of ANSI safety standards and proper arboricultural practices
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license required
- CDL is a plus but not required
- ISA Arborist Certification is a plus but not required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb, lift, carry, and work at heights
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds
- Ability to work long days when needed, especially during storm response
