Territory Sales Representative — Phoenix–Scottsdale Base Salary + Uncapped Commission
We are seeking an experienced outside sales professional to manage and grow a wholesale territory serving premium cigar shops, tobacconists, lounges, specialty retailers and related independent accounts throughout Arizona and the broader Southwest.
This is a territory-development role with an existing customer base, qualified lapsed accounts and a growing list of premium cigar and tobacco prospects. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a disciplined local route in Arizona while developing selected surrounding markets through planned travel.
Preferred location
Candidates should live in the Phoenix metropolitan area, preferably near:
- Scottsdale
- Tempe
- Chandler
- Mesa
- North Phoenix
- Another nearby community with convenient access to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
Territory
The initial territory is expected to include:
- Arizona
- Las Vegas and southern Nevada
- New Mexico
- Utah
- Colorado
- Selected Southern California accounts
- Additional Mountain West accounts through phone, email and scheduled market trips
Northern California, Oregon and Washington may be supported remotely or through periodic planned travel, depending on account potential.
Territory house accounts will be managed separately and not be included in the representative’s territory.
Responsibilities
- Protect and develop an existing base of wholesale customers
- Build the assigned territory toward growth in annual net sales
- Establish a consistent customer-visit schedule throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area
- Reactivate qualified lapsed and inactive accounts
- Open new premium cigar, tobacco, lounge and specialty-retail accounts
- Conduct planned territory trips to Las Vegas, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and selected Southern California markets
- Support field selling with consistent telephone and email follow-up
- Present product assortments based on account type, customer demographics, price points and inventory needs
- Develop opening orders, reorder programs and account-growth plans
- Identify opportunities to expand brand penetration within current accounts
- Follow up on quotes, samples, product presentations and customer requests
- Maintain accurate and timely Salesforce account notes, activities, opportunities and next steps
- Plan travel and customer routes efficiently
- Manage samples, meals, lodging, airfare, rental vehicles, tolls, parking and other approved business expenses within company policy
- Attend selected trade shows, customer events and market visits
- Report competitive products, pricing feedback and territory opportunities
Performance expectations
The representative will be evaluated on:
- Net sales contribution
- Current-account retention
- Growth within existing accounts
- New and reactivated accounts
- Order conversion from calls and visits
- Expense efficiency
- Quality and consistency of Salesforce documentation
- Progress toward a sustainable annual growth territory
High activity alone will not be considered successful unless it produces orders, account movement or documented customer progress.
First-year priorities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Establish contact with all assigned active accounts
- Build a regular Phoenix–Scottsdale field route
- Develop a planned monthly Las Vegas route
- Qualify and reactivate lapsed accounts
- Open new cigar shops, premium tobacco retailers and lounges
- Develop selected Southern California accounts through scheduled market trips
- Use phone and email selling to support low-density markets
- Maintain travel expenses at a level appropriate to territory sales
Qualifications
- Three or more years of outside B2B sales experience preferred
- Experience managing an independent-retail, wholesale or multi-state territory
- Experience with premium cigars, tobacco retail, specialty consumer products, beverage distribution, hospitality or related industries is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, close and grow repeat-order accounts
- Strong account-management and relationship-selling skills
- Ability to discuss product assortments, inventory, margins and retail price points
- Strong territory-planning, route-management and expense-control skills
- Comfortable using digital tools and systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal vehicle suitable for regular business travel
- Ability to travel overnight approximately two to four nights per month
- Ability to conduct scheduled air and ground travel across the Southwest
Compensation
Base salary: $62,000–$68,000, based on experience.
The position also includes an uncapped commission plan with additional incentives for new and reactivated accounts. Target total cash compensation will increase as the territory approaches and exceeds annual sales goals.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined field seller who can build a strong local Arizona route while managing a broader Southwest territory through planned travel and consistent follow-up.
This is not an order-taking position. The representative will be expected to develop new business, reactivate former customers, increase account penetration and create a clear path toward a sustainable growing territory.
Pay: $62,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
