Position Summary
We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and patient-focused Dental Assistant / Front Desk Coordinator to join our modern general dental practice in downtown Washington, DC. This hybrid position combines clinical assisting with front office responsibilities and is ideal for someone who enjoys both patient care and administrative work.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and instruments
- Assist the dentist during general dental procedures
- Take digital radiographs
- Maintain proper infection control and sterilization protocols
- Seat patients and review medical histories
- Take impressions, intraoral photographs, and scans as needed
- Fabricate and adjust provisional restorations when appropriate
- Provide patient education regarding oral hygiene and post-operative care
- Monitor inventory and order clinical supplies
- Maintain OSHA and CDC compliance
Front Office Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and provide excellent customer service
- Answer incoming calls and respond to patient inquiries
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Verify dental insurance benefits
- Present treatment plans and explain financial options
- Collect patient payments and maintain accurate records
- Submit insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims
- Coordinate referrals and obtain prior authorizations when needed
- Maintain accurate electronic patient records
Qualifications
- Previous dental assisting experience preferred
- Current DC Dental Assistant credentials (or eligibility if required)
- Digital radiography certification preferred
- Experience with dental practice management software (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
