Specialist to join our growing clinical team and help individuals achieve meaningful
outcomes in their homes and communities.
Position Summary
The Behavior Specialist is responsible for conducting behavioral assessments,
developing and monitoring Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), providing consultation and
training to caregivers and staff, and ensuring implementation of evidence-based
behavioral interventions. This position works collaboratively with individuals, families,
support coordinators, direct support staff, and interdisciplinary team members to
improve quality of life and promote independence.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and behavioral evaluations.
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
Analyze behavioral data and make recommendations based on outcomes.
Provide behavioral consultation services in home, community, and program
settings.
Monitor progress and revise interventions as needed.
Training & Support
Train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), caregivers, and family members on
behavior support strategies.
Provide ongoing coaching to ensure proper implementation of BSPs.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and person-centered planning
meetings.
Assist teams in developing proactive and preventative behavioral supports.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete assessments, progress notes, BSPs, and required reports in a timely
manner.
Maintain documentation in accordance with Medicaid Waiver, state, and agency
requirements.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality assurance standards.
Participate in audits, reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
Crisis Prevention & Intervention
Provide consultation regarding behavioral crises and risk management.
Assist in developing safety plans and crisis intervention strategies.
Support teams in reducing restrictive interventions through positive behavior
supports.
Qualifications
Required
Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Special Education,
Applied Behavior Analysis, Human Services, or a related field.
Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) or eligibility to obtain licensure.
Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with IDD and/or
Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
Experience providing services under IDD or Autism Waiver programs.
Experience developing Behavior Support Plans.
Knowledge of Positive Behavior Support and trauma-informed care.
Experience training staff and caregivers.
Skills & Competencies
