We are looking for a dependable and experienced Kitchen Lead to help oversee daily kitchen operations while continuing to work hands-on in production. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, understands bakery production workflows, and can help guide and support a growing kitchen team.
Position Overview
The Kitchen Lead plays a key role in helping the kitchen operate smoothly, efficiently, and consistently day to day. This is a working leadership position, meaning the role combines active production responsibilities with team leadership, inventory oversight, quality control, and operational support.
The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and capable of leading by example while maintaining high production and cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the kitchen team during daily production
- Help maintain an organized, efficient, and productive kitchen environment
- Train team members on recipes, procedures, kitchen systems, and quality standards
- Help assign tasks and keep production on schedule throughout shifts
- Monitor kitchen inventory, ingredients, supplies, and production needs
- Communicate inventory shortages, ordering needs, and equipment concerns to management
- Continue hands-on production work including laminating, dough production, ingredient prep, and baking support as needed
- Ensure products are made according to company recipes, standards, and timelines
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards throughout the kitchen
- Help minimize waste and improve production efficiency
- Support a respectful, team-oriented, and accountable work environment
- Assist with managing staffing, production issues, quality concerns, and overall kitchen performance
Requirements
- Previous experience in a commercial bakery, pastry kitchen, or high-volume kitchen environment
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of production timing, prep workflows, proofing, baking, and laminated doughs
- Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain consistency and attention to detail under pressure
- Open availability, including early mornings, weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- References encouraged
