We are seeking a highly skilled Lead CNC Mill Setup Machinist who keeps Haas lathes running, increase shop utilization, and support smooth production flow. Applicants who can demonstrate competence with CAM software (Mastercam, FeatureCAM, Fusion, or similar) will be eligible for additional pay.
Responsibilities
- Independent Setup & Teardown: Complete ownership of the machine transition process to minimize downtime and willingness to help others.
- Run assigned jobs reliably on a 7:00am–3:30pm, Monday–Friday schedule and complete overtime is available
- Maximize spindle uptime through smart shop practices.
- Troubleshoot basic machine issues, perform on-the-spot adjustments, and minimize downtime independently
- Maintain organized workstations and follow shop efficiency practices to maximize machine uptime
- Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools and ensure parts meet specified tolerances
- Communicate production status, tooling needs, and quality concerns clearly to supervisors and team members
- Follow safety procedures and maintain documentation for jobs, setups, and maintenance
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience operating CNC lathes (lathe-focused setup experience required)
- Demonstrated ability to independently set up, run, and troubleshoot CNC lathe work
- Track record of reliability, strong work ethic, and integrity
- Ability to read blueprints and use common inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Willingness to work the specified 7:00am–3:30pm shift, Monday–Friday
- Positive references that confirm attendance, follow-through, and shop-fit
Nice to Have
- Competence with CAM software (Mastercam, FeatureCAM, Fusion, or similar) preferred; ability to program parts in CAM is a strong plus
- Prior Haas-specific lathe experience
- Experience mentoring or supporting less-experienced operators
- Familiarity with shop floor continuous improvement practices (5S, lean)
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $24–$28 per hour base; $2–$3/hr premium available for demonstrated experience
