The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) is responsible for administering prescribed medications to residents or patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN). The CMA also assists with daily living activities, monitors patients for medication side effects, maintains accurate documentation, and provides compassionate, quality care.
Administer prescribed medications according to physician orders and facility policies.
Accurately document medication administration and maintain medication records.
Observe patients for medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, or changes in condition and report concerns to the licensed nurse.
Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as needed.
Measure and record vital signs when required.
Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning of residents.
Ensure medication carts and supplies are clean, organized, and properly stocked.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Follow infection control, safety, and medication administration protocols.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare team members.
Respond promptly to resident needs and emergency situations.
