Network Cabling & Security contractor based on Long Island with job-sites on Long Island, NYC, Westchester, Northern NJ, and CT. Seeking cabling technicians who understand industry data-cabling standards when installing backbone and horizontal fiber and copper cabling systems as well as BICSI/TIA/ANSI standards, local code and system signal flow. A plus for experience with CCTV, Access Control VOIP, and POTS line Installation, router & switch swaps and problem resolution. All candidates will be interviewed at our office in Freeport, NY where your experience and knowledge will be tested.
Cable Tech Skill Sets & Knowledge Base (Must Haves)
- Must Have 40 Hour OSHA
- Reliable Transportation
- 3 years field experience required
- Able to lift and move 50 lbs
- Ability and willing to work additional hours when needed
- Strong work ethic. Uses time productively to accomplish work goals.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedure
- Ability to read and understand floor plans and prints
- Ability to rack and stack (install) network hardware
- Installing Cat 6, Cat 6A and Fiber cable, Pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables and labeling to industry standards
- Installing raceway, Assembling ladder racks, and grounding
- Installation of patch cords and ability to follow patching schedules.
- Diagnosing and correcting copper and optical fiber problems
- Work cleanly
Lead Tech qualifications to be considered are:
- 1 year minimum as lead in construction environment
- Ability to listen and follow directions and instructions
- 3 years in related field.
- 4 year's experience installing and servicing Cat 6, 6A and fiber optics, knowledge of TIA standards or BICSI certified preferred, Installing cable, Grounding bonding, labeling.
- 4 year performing equipment troubleshooting, repair
- Experienced with Fluke DSX5000, DSX8000, Linkrunner 1000
- Applicants must have a current valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Installation of cable support pathways and raceways
- Capable of working effectively with co-workers and fulfill customer requests.
- Able to lift and move 50 lbs
- Ability to go up and down 6’-14’ ladders
- Returns calls and e-mails promptly.
- Able to read and understand floor plans (Architectural Drawings)
- Has perfect attendance and can be trusted to handle a high level of responsibility.
- Poses their own industry standard hand tools
- Able to travel job-sites
- Proficiency with power & hand tools (must know how to use a drill and hammer drill)
- Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues.
- Demonstrates high level of professionalism at all times.
- Well Versed with Excel, emails
- Understanding of site safety
- Ability maximize time management with techs
- Understanding of local installation codes and standards
- Understands fire stopping
