Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company is a privately-held U.S. corporation headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1942 as a metallurgical coal and coke producer. Today, Mid-Continent is the leading supplier of small metallurgical coke in North America with 12+ plant locations in the US.
Position Summary
We are seeking a Plant Laborer for our Cleveland Cliffs/Steelyard location. The Plant Laborer will report directly to the onsite Plant Manager.

Some responsibilities/skills required include:
- Ability to understand and follow all company and OSHA safe work practices
- Ability to work 10 hour shifts Tue-Fri or Wed-Sat schedule depending on business need
- Experience operating heavy equipment (articulated loader) and a skid steer
- Experience working around conveyors and large stationary machinery, such as vibrating screens
- Basic knowledge of truck scaling/weigh ticket preparation
- Basic knowledge of heavy equipment routine maintenance is a plus
- Willingness and ability to perform manual labor (shoveling, cleaning, fastening, using tools, etc.)
- Must also be able to follow specific detailed instructions and work in a safety-oriented manner.
- Must be comfortable with frequently wearing necessary PPE such as fall protection with harness and lanyard for aspects of the job.
- The position is year-round, and most of the work is done in an outdoor environment during various weather conditions.
Additional requirements include:
- Must have a valid driver's license
- 1-3 years experience
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and move 100 lbs with no restrictions
- Ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders (fixed and portable)
- Ability and willingness to work overtime or a rotation schedule as required
- Ability to pass pre-employment 10-panel drug screening and criminal background check
This position is Full-Time, Hourly with EXCELLENT Company-Paid Medical, Dental and Vision & Life Insurance Premiums and minimal out-of-pocket deductibles. ROBUST Retirement package (401K Traditional or ROTH) with up to 6% company match. Paid time off, opportunity for growth, parental leave, etc.
