Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging curricula tailored to early childhood education standards and individual student needs, including special education considerations.
- Plan and execute lesson plans that incorporate speech therapy techniques, behavioral management strategies, and literacy and math instruction.
- Manage classroom activities to create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and social skills development.
- Collaborate with families, therapists, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress through assessments and standardized testing.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for assistant teachers and classroom aides to foster team growth.
- Utilize behavioral health strategies and behavioral therapy techniques to support children with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, IEP documentation, and communication logs while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood education settings, including preschool or private school environments.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development theories, special education practices, and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with curriculum development for literacy, math, speech therapy, and behavioral health interventions.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities; certification in behavioral therapy is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with families, colleagues, therapists, and support staff.
- Ability to plan lessons aligned with IEP goals while incorporating innovative teaching methods such as Montessori or other child-centered approaches.
