Position Summary
WSB Communications is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cable Installer / Terminator to join our healthcare communications team. This position is primarily based in Lexington, Kentucky and is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting low-voltage cabling systems in hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout our service area.
The ideal candidate will have experience with structured cabling installations and a strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in active healthcare environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Install low-voltage cabling systems including:
- Nurse Call Systems
- CAT6/CAT6A Ethernet cabling
- Fiber optic cabling
- Audio/visual and communication cabling
- Wireless infrastructure support cabling
- Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling systems
- Install cable pathways including conduit, J-hooks, cable tray, and raceway systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, riser diagrams, and project drawings
- Label and document cabling according to company and customer standards
- Install and trim out devices including:
- Patient stations
- Pull stations
- Dome lights
- Network equipment
- Rack-mounted equipment
- Assist with system startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- Maintain clean and organized job sites
- Follow all hospital safety protocols and infection control requirements
- Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, IT staff, and WSB team members
- Travel to customer sites throughout Kentucky and surrounding areas as needed
Qualifications
Required
- Experience installing and terminating low-voltage cabling systems
- Basic understanding of structured cabling standards
- Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and cable testing equipment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on ladders or lifts
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overnight travel
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare or hospital environments
- Experience with nurse call systems
- Fiber optic termination and testing experience
- BICSI certification or other low-voltage certifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with rack buildouts and network infrastructure
