Opportunity Overview
On behalf of a well-established law firm, we are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Accounting Leader to lead accounting and finance operations. This is a senior leadership role, working closely with the executive team and overseeing a small accounting staff, with full ownership of the organization's financial function.
You'll play a central role in driving enterprise value by building out financial strategy, reporting, and analysis in close partnership with senior leadership to support the company's growth goals. This is a genuinely hands-on position: you'll be directly in the work day to day, not directing from above.
The firm is looking for someone who can own the full scope of accounting and finance including bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, internal controls, and process improvement with the autonomy to manage it independently and deliver accurate, timely financials.
Just as important as the technical skill set is fit: the firm is specifically looking for someone collaborative, low-ego, and who enjoys working with people - a true team player who brings a positive, steady presence to the office and builds trust across the organization. Strong character, humility, and a genuine bias toward getting things done matter as much here as the numbers.
What We're Looking For
- Recent experience as a Controller or Accounting leader within a small to mid-sized legal services organization
- Solid background in core financial and accounting principles to include P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, budgeting, and general finance
- A track record of improving systems and processes to drive efficiency and automation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A natural relationship-builder who enjoys collaborating outside the finance function, earning trust, and solving problems alongside other departments
- Hands-on experience managing budgets and cash flow
- Sound judgment - able to size up situations quickly and make good calls
- Comfortable working under pressure, managing competing priorities, and delegating effectively
- A leader ready to take ownership of the full finance function, start to finish
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel
This is a priority hire and the firm is looking to move fast on the right hire. If this sounds like a fit for your background, you're encouraged to apply as soon as possible!
