Position: Full-Time Lead Maintenance Foreman
Type: Full-Time (Monday – Friday) 2 pm to 11pm Shift
Pay: $33.80 - $39.85 per hour based on experience & must supply own tools

Description:
A diesel mechanic shop foreman manages daily shop operations, supervises technicians, and ensures efficient repair of light duty and heavy duty equipment. This position reports directly to the Yuba Sutter Transit Shop Manager. Key duties include scheduling work, ensuring quality control, handling inventory, and enforcing safety regulations. They act as a liaison between technicians, our client, and management, often diagnosing complex issues and training staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Supervision & Leadership: Directing, scheduling, and training technicians to ensure high-quality, timely repairs.
- Operational Oversight: Ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, monitoring shop cleanliness, and conducting final quality inspections (spot checks).
- Diagnostic & Technical Support: Diagnosing complex mechanical issues, conducting road tests, and aiding technicians with troubleshooting, as described by and in the technical specification manuals for the fleet.
- Customer & Fleet Communication: Liaising with shop manager or client to discuss repair statuses and requirements.
- Inventory & Documentation: Managing parts inventory and tracking repair orders, documentation, and costs.
- Safety Enforcement: Enforcing safety regulations, including OSHA compliance and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Software Knowledge Requirements: Must have the ability to learn complex software programs used in the technical shop environment. At Yuba Sutter Transit we use RTA 360, Cummings Fleet, All Data, Microsoft, and other computer-based technical software.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Supervising employees and ability to work unsupervised. Proven experience as a diesel technician with in-depth knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, and hydraulic systems.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage a team effectively.
- Technical Expertise: Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service literature.
- Physical Demands: Frequent tasks include bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and lifting, often involving heavy, greasy, or awkward parts.
- Lifting Requirements: Employees must be able to lift up to 100 lbs maximum, with frequent lifting of 50 lbs.
· Tools & Equipment: Mechanics frequently handle heavy tools (impact guns) and heavy components (truck tires, transmissions, engine parts).
- Education: A high school diploma is typical, with specialized training from a technical school often required.
- Certifications: ASE certifications are frequently preferred or required. Experience will be considered in leu of education on a 2/1 experience to education basis. You must obtain a Class B CDL with air brake, and passenger endorsements within 6 months of employment. Subject to all FTA Drug and alcohol testing protocols throughout employment.
