- PPAP Submissions: Preparing and reviewing the 18 standard PPAP elements (e.g., Design Records, FMEA, Process Flow, Control Plan, MSA, SPC) required for customer approval.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working with design, manufacturing, and suppliers to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs): Ensuring packages adhere to the unique standards of OEMs like Toyota, Volvo, and International.
- Change Management: Validating product or process changes (e.g., tooling moves, material swaps) and submitting updated documentation for customer approval.
Key Skills & Background
- Core Tools Mastery: Deep understanding of the 5 AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
- Auditing: Often certified as internal or lead auditors for IATF 16949.
- Problem Solving: Proficiency in root cause analysis, 8D, and Six Sigma methodologies.
Qualifications & Training
Specialists typically hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a relevant technical field, combined with 2 to 5+ years of automotive supplier quality experience. Have certifications to validate competency in the above requirements.
