Essential Functions
- 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors
- 2. Screens gynecological and non-gynecological cases daily and in a timely manner.
- 3. Assists with preparation, staining and cover slipping of cytology specimens as needed.
- 4. Assists in Cytology intra-operative or intra-procedural assessments that are scheduled with the Department in such areas as Ambulatory Surgery, Operating Room, Breast Imaging, Endoscopy, Off Site, Radiology and Radiology Department.
- 5. Sign out cases with the Pathologist on (according to schedule)
- 6. Labels all Cytology stained slides, compares name, number of slides, clinical information, and gross description against the Cytology requisitions.
- 7. Change and clean equipment and solutions in the cytology aspiration procedure tray, keep cytology aspiration procedure supplies in tray stocked as needed.
- 8. Process Send out samples and reports.
- 9. Maintains all records as per regulatory agencies requirements
- 10. Maintains CME log.
- 11. Participates in any other departmental activities as directed by the Chief Cytotechnologist or Laboratory Director
12. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- BS Required in ASCP Registry and/or Certified Cytology School .
- 1-3 years 3 years minimum experience screening gynecological, non-gynecological specimens and fine needle aspirations. Required
- Familiar with Bethesda system for Cytology reporting. (Preferred)

- Cytotechnologist - New York State Board of Clinical Laboratory Technology Upon Hire Required
