Position Reports to: Building Principal
Position Classification: Part time, at-will, 10-month, salaried, exempt
The Theater teacher is responsible for maintaining an academic and spiritually stimulating learning environment for the students assigned to the classroom. This includes helping students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. A theater teacher is to provide Christ-centered leadership to student-performers, instruct and train them in the skills and rules of the performing arts, to help them individually and collectively, and provide them with biblically-centered perspectives on theater and teamwork.
Whatever you are doing in your theatrical performance, you are to do it with the total release of all your mental and physical abilities and emotional energies with Jesus Christ as your only audience (Colossians 3:23)

Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
General

Provide leadership to the program for the specific performance.

Enforce dress code in conjunction with the student handbook.

Take charge of costume and set design.

Responsible for the supervision and atmosphere of any rehearsals.

Actively involved with the whole program to ensure skills are being built adequately.

Keep rooms and storage rooms neat and clean.
Attitude and Skills with Children:
- Relate with appropriate and respectful voice and actions to all children
- Responsible for safety and welfare of children
- Provides effective and appropriate discipline within school guidelines
Planning and Leading:
- Provide developmentally appropriate activities, accommodating various learning styles/abilities
- Maintain review/revision of current curriculum mapping in all subjects
- Adequate preparation for the day's activities
- Consistent integration of spiritual concepts
Attitudes and Skills with Parents:
- Maintain confidentiality and tact with negative information
- Keep parents informed of the child's progress
- Seeks input before making difficult decisions or recommendations to parents
Teacher Responsibilities:
- A role model for other teachers
- Assist with recess and after-school duties
- Read, follow and support teacher handbook
Attitudes and Skills with Co-workers
- Work as a team member and diligent to preserve unity within the staff
- Consistently show commitment, enthusiasm, and involvement
General Work Habits:
- Prompt and reliable attendance record
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings
- Conscious of health and safety issues
- Attend in-service training as required

Other position appropriate duties as deemed necessary by the Principal, Assistant Principal, or Head of School.
Position Requirements:
State/ACSI teacher certification preferred, but must be able to obtain ACSI certification within the established timeframe
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in preferably Education from an accredited college
Experience working in an education environment
Experience working with similar-aged children
Demonstrates effective communication skills with parents, children, and staff
Knowledge of theater, and the ability to integrate those ideas into practice and performance situations
Ability to develop and articulate a Christ-centered vision of theater and how it applies to all areas of their lives
